CSTE’s Legionnaires’ Disease WMP Evaluation Subgroup, with the assistance of the public health consulting firm Hutton Health Consulting LLC, developed an evaluation tool for jurisdictions to use as part of their Legionella prevention and control activities. This tool provides a standardized approach to evaluate a facility/building’s WMP to determine if it comports with existing standards developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the CDC WMP Toolkit. Water systems, particularly in larger buildings, have a high risk of providing a suitable environment for Legionella growth and spread, and WMPs are an important strategy for reducing the risk of legionellosis.

During the webinar, participants will learn about WMPs and their importance for reducing the risk for Legionella growth in building water systems, learn the basic elements of an WMP and receive information that will enable them to begin reviewing WMPs developed by facilities in their jurisdiction, and will be oriented to CSTE’s WMP Evaluation Tool, including how to review and score WMPs for both healthcare facilities and other non-healthcare facilities in communities.
